About the Director
Jamie Rodriguez...

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jamie Rodriguez, or "Miss Jamie" to my students and I've been teaching dance to children of all ages for many years. I first danced as a soloist for a children's ballet company in Michigan, The Flint Ballet Theater. At Western Michigan University I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in dance and then spent a summer in New York City on scholarship to the Harkness House School of Ballet. Dancing for Walt Disney World brought me to Florida and I continue to actively study dance while pursuing my professional licentiate of the Cecchetti Method of teaching ballet with Pirkko Lawlor. Through lessons with Chela Jacobo, I am studying the Royal Academy of Dance methods. She has also offered me the opportunity to study classical Spanish dance and Flamenco. My most recent study, Summer of 2006, was a Bulerias and Tango workshop with Ana Maria Lopez in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. I've also studied Tap with Mark Lengyel who is a free lance artist offering a method and style all his own that mixes classical tap with hoofing rhythms. I was a teacher and studio director for Showtime Children's Dance Studio for 10 years. My dream, however, has always been to own my own studio. That dream came true when I had the opportunity to become the owner of Showtime IV where I had been a part of making little dancer's dreams come true for years. I am proud and pleased to announce that now after 10 years as Dancer's Edge, I will continue taking my present and future young charges on the exciting journey to beyond the edge of their dreams...
