Tap dancing is magic. It is unlike any other genre of dance with its rich and vibrant history and dedicated fan base the world over. Tap originated in the United States through the fusion of several ethnic percussive dances, primarily African tribal dances and Scottish, Irish, and English clog dances; hornpipes, and jigs. Americans added the jazz element which distinguished us from other kinds of dance based on percussive footwork. This discipline has something to offer for every member of the audience too, as its rhythmic components are applicable to more than just their visual senses. Part of what makes tap dancing so entertaining for viewers, is that their experience is stimulated by an ensemble of live rhythmic composition.
